SEC has a plan in case of Governmental “lapse in appropriations”

Ok. Not quite as epic as a MacGyver plan…

sec-plan-of-operations-during-lapse-in-appropriations-2015-1

…but the SEC does have a Plan A and possible a Plan B if the government agencies are forced to close on October 1.

FROM the SEC:

The SEC will remain open and operational in the event the federal government undergoes a lapse in appropriations on October 1.

Any changes to the SEC’s operational status after October 1 will be announced on this website.

The SEC’s current operational plan in the event of an SEC shutdown is available here.

For those of you who remember the government shut-down event from 2013 (read here), the “practical advice” is that IPO registrations may be affected. S-1 filings may not be totally stopped, but if 2015 mirrors 2013, the process becomes – for lack of better description – a “manual process.”

We are watching this closely.
