Number of Twitter followers is not a success metric. Well, unless perhaps you are a social media engagement expert.

As I was writing content for my Capital Markets Visibility 365 “digital dozen,” I came across this chest thumping data.  PR Newswire has over 2.6 times the Twitter audience than our next competitor. Obviously, we are extremely engaged in social media.

Before you spout about quality and not quantity – remember… our job #1 is to distribute news, find audiences and find investors. Both quality and quantity are important for this task.

Also, a very key distribution metric is “Twitter List” participation. Twitter Lists are category groups (think “sector” for IR) created by our audience. Currently we are on 4,002 distribution lists. Our next competitor is on 1,127.
