PR Newswire to Guide Public Companies to “Re-balance IR” at the National Investor Relations Institute (NIRI) 2012 Annual Conference

Strategic “Capital Market Visibility 365” communications program plus emphasis on financial convergence of PR, IR and SEC compliance to lead discussions

NEW YORK // PR Newswire and its full service financial printing, filing and XBRL-SEC Compliance division, Vintage Filings, today announced their participation at the National Investor Relations Institute (NIRI) 2012 Annual Conference where they will offer public companies guidance on rebalancing their IR strategies with an emphasis on being more proactive with targeting and outbound communications.

PR Newswire and Vintage Filings have supported the conference and the mission of NIRI for over twenty years. The 2012 conference will be held from June 3rd through 6th in Seattle, WA. PR Newswire and Vintage Filings representatives will be available to meet with attendees at booth # 115.

Capital Market Visibility 365

A strategic and calendared marketing plan, Capital Market Visibility 365 is comprised of twelve integrated shareholder communication elements that simultaneously and directly engage Main Street, Wall Street and the financial media.  Initially released in Fall 2011, PR Newswire has further enhanced the distribution strength of this innovative 12-month communications program, including the newly announced integrating the de facto leader in financial-based social media, StockTwits.

John Viglotti, VP of Investor Relations Services at PR Newswire, discusses the program on a series of short videos.

In addition shareholder communications elements, to help clients excel at professional investor relations, a six month Educational Scholarship with the National Investor Relations Institute (NIRI) is included.

Re-balancing IR with SEC compliance

“Investor relations officers are under constant pressure to cut expenses, but it is my opinion that many of the ‘savings ideas’ sold  into investor relations departments’ negatively affect what a company continually needs most – proactive exposure to find new investors,” said Bradley H. Smith, Director of Marketing at PR Newswire. “Investor acquisition to advance shareholder value is the essential growth area for a public company.”

NIRI conference attendees have a 1 in 100 chance to win!

“Our client discussions around re-balancing IR are actually conversations about IR marketing,” continued Smith. “Simply, if you have ten dollars in your budget and need to grow your business, where do you spend those dollars? You spend the dollars on the #1 growth goal of finding new customers. You reduce or at least don’t over-spend on services that don’t advance growth.”

In IR vernacular, the elements companies need to re-balancing include escalating IR website hosting fees, web disclosure vs. web exposure as well as XBRL and SEC compliance costs. Looking at the total spend that affects IR, SEC regulations have burdened public companies to spend a disproportionate amount on compliance.

Smith is a proponent of reevaluating compliance spending and re-balancing the saved dollars into growth opportunities. PR Newswire acquired their own XBRL and SEC filing division in 2007 and the combined organization, PR Newswire – Vintage Filings is now the #1 XBRL and SEC filing newswire.

“Absolutely, public companies must be compliant but it’s important to consider that over-spending on compliance services, like XBRL, will not make you more compliant. However, investing more into exposure and targeting will help you engage more investors,” finished Smith.
